The ‘Super Troopers’ sequel has officially finished post-production and we want it released Right Meow!

We’ve been waiting to hear this news for what seems like ages, but Super Trooper fans, get excited! Movie star and member of the Broken Lizard comedy group Kevin Heffernan has announced that the film has officially completed post-production and is only waiting for a release date.

Heffernan, who plays Farva in the film, posted a detailed update on the set at the Broken lizard website. He writes:

“We have officially completed the edit / post-production process. Huzzah! Last week we completed the sound mixing and color correction, the final steps in bringing this baby to life. We are very excited.

Huzzah indeed, his confirmation that post-production had just ended confused fans. There had been previous reports that the Super Troopers the sequel was already screened in front of a test audience, Heffernan took a moment to clarify that as well. He writes:

“We’ve published articles about how we’ve done test screenings before and some people don’t know how we do it if the movie wasn’t technically ‘done.’ The reality is that these screenings are made with a unfinished product: temporary sound and music and a low-res image. It’s important to do these projections before everything is locked, so that we can see what works and what doesn’t, what jokes are playing and what jokes are zero, then make adjustments accordingly. But at some point you have to stop this process and lock everything in. Sound mixing and color correction mark the end of this process. Both are exciting, not just because they are the last steps, but because they significantly improve the film. “

So now that everything is locked, what happens next? All of us, fans, cast and crew, are waiting for a release date. Heffernan writes:

“Next step: we are waiting for our release date. Fox Searchlight has reviewed the finished product and will let us know about the plan soon. When we have the release date, you will be the first to know. It was then that the trailers, posters and all promotional material will be launched. It is painful to wait for this process as we are dying to share this film with you, but every step brings us closer. Again, we couldn’t have done this without you and we thank you for all your help.

This is all super exciting, but we can’t help but be a little impatient. The first film was released in 2001 and was pure comedic gold starring the entire Broken Lizard gang including Erik Stolhanske, Steve Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter in addition to Heffernan. Fans have a lot to do with the ongoing sequel, especially since a campaign broadcast on was responsible for part of the film’s budget.

We are so excited for this movie! We can’t wait to see what kinds of crazy shenanigans these guys go for in the sequel!
