Shazam! Fury of the Gods director reveals update on film’s post-production status


Shazam! The fury of the gods finished filming in late August, and director David F. Sandberg has always shared post-production updates. Last week, the director promised the film would feature the intro seen at the start of other DCEU films, which he hilariously forgot to include in the premiere. Shazam!. In Sandberg’s last post, he shared an overview of his post-production office and included an update on the process.

“Doing temporary VFX in my post-production office. I still use my old copy of VideoCopilot’s Action Essentials 2 (especially for the smoke during Shazam transformations). The post-production office has no windows (I was really spoiled with my pre-production desk seen in the second image.) But I still prefer this one because it’s in LA and I sleep in my own bed every night, ”Sandberg wrote. Someone in the comments asked how post-production was going and whether or not the director was having any issues. “It’s okay. In addition to Zachary Levi in ​​the titular role, Shazam! The fury of the gods will see the return of the set of “Shazamily” with the exception of Michelle Borth, the former adult Mary, who is replaced by Grace Fulton in the sequel. Returning young characters will include Billy Batson (Asher Angel), Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer), Eugene (Ian Chen), Pedro (Jovan Armand), Darla (Faithe Herman) and Mary (Fulton). The adult-sized return of Shazamily will feature actors Adam Brody, DJ Cotrona, Ross Butler and Meagan Good. Recently, a set photo revealed that Djimon Hounsou is also back as a wizard. New additions to the cast include Helen Mirren as villainous Hespera, a daughter of Atlas, and Lucy Liu as Hespera’s sister, Kalypso. West Side Story Star Rachel Zegler has also been cast for an unknown key role.

In June, Sandberg shared a surprising new look at Shazam! The fury of the gods, with an official photo presenting the set Shazam! family in their updated costumes. The new costumes caused a wide range of reactions online with Levi thanking fans for supporting the new looks.

“Hey all of you! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who supported our new costumes so much in Shazam: FotG! No one feels objectified wearing them. 😘 Like you were,” Levi wrote.

Shazam! The fury of the gods will be released on June 2, 2023.
