European Post-Production Company Chooses Infortrend Scalable NAS for Performance, Efficient Management and Storage Flexibility

Taipei, Taiwan Infortrend® Technology, Inc. A creative post-production house in Europe specializing in creative commercials, post-production editing and animation as a unique touch, has storage issues that need to be resolved. They have won the world’s most recognized international advertising awards, the Clio Awards, and have a client list that includes world famous brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike, Riot Games, etc. However, the explosive volume of data has left it with performance and storage capacity issues.

The studio uses three NAS storage systems for special effects and non-linear editing, as well as file sharing, backup and archiving. Their main challenge is that the data is stored in three independent file systems, which makes it difficult to efficiently use storage capacities and the manual maintenance required to organize the data on the corresponding NAS systems. Therefore, the customer wants to replace their storage system with a single file system solution to reduce management effort while providing dynamic scalability.

To meet their needs, Infortrend offered five of their EonStor CS3024 scale-out NAS solutions. Multi-node scale-out NAS architecture provides a single file system for easy management and expansion. The system can be further expanded by scaling up to 144 nodes and up to 84 hard drives per node, reaching approximately 100PB of storage capacity to keep up with ever-growing projects.

HDD-based EonStor CS3024 offers exceptional capacity and performance. When it comes to 4K video editing, it’s a cost-effective choice. By upgrading to a 5-node cluster, the capacity increases to 720TB and the cluster supports up to 34 layers of concurrent read without stuttering. With four SSDs built into each node as cache, it provides lower latency and improves read/write performance. Additionally, the solution provides a comprehensive data protection design including RAID and erase code to prevent data loss caused by disk or node failures.
