Eirich Machines supplies material preparation system to new fertilizer coating plant in Canada

Eirich Machines is supporting a project by Pursell and Sollio Agriculture to build a fertilizer coating plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada.

The new plant will open in fall 2021 and should be operational in August 2022. It is dedicated to the production of advanced controlled release fertilizers (CRF) and will produce up to 100,000 t once full capacity is reached. According to the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), using CRFs could reduce the recommended rate of a conventional fertilizer by 20-30% while achieving the same yield.

Pursell, which opened a fertilizer coating plant in Sylacauga, Alabama, USA in early 2018, also launched plans to open another plant in Savannah, Georgia, USA.

The preparation system provided by Eirich at the St. Thomas facility includes material handling, structure, solids and liquids delivery, dosing, Eirich intensive mixers, environment, controls, a process control and more.

“We are extremely pleased to partner with industry-leading companies such as Pursell and Sollio Agriculture, and we look forward to continuing our commitment and tradition of providing cutting-edge processing technology,” said Matthias Erdmannsdoerfer, Managing Director of ‘Eirich Machines. “This partnership demonstrates our ability to provide the unprecedented process knowledge and support required to deliver complex processing plants in North America and around the world.
