Clerks III director Kevin Smith provides post-production update

Now that the shooting is done Kevin Smith’s To come up Clerk III, the project entered its post-production phase where the director posted on Instagram an update completing its first cut. The film Lionsgate, scheduled for release in 2022, brings together the main stars, Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson, reprising their roles as Dante and Randall at the helm of convenience store Quick Stop Groceries, originally created the 1994 original. During the events of the first film, Dante ran the Quick Stop while Randall ran the video store adjacent. 2006 saw the building burnt down, forcing the duo to work for the fast food chain Mooby’s, where they work with Becky and Elias, played by Rosario Dawson and Trevor Fehrman, respectively. The two will also reprise their roles for the third film, with Jason mewes and Smith himself returning as the stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob that they’ve played since the 1994 film.

Kevin Smith’s Clerks III Update

Registrars III, exercise 0
I spent the entire last week waking up at 4am to take care of our aging dog Marty, which made me edit early, breaking my daily 7k hike habit for a full week. The bad news is that I am plump from all the meals and the lack of exercise. The good news? a) Marty is still with us and b) I’m done with the first cut of # clerks3! The movie arrived at 1 hour and 48 minutes, but yesterday I surgically removed an additional 3 minutes, bringing the current cutoff to 1 hour and 45 minutes. # clerks2 lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes, but we have a lot more stories to tell this time around. Happy to report that thanks to my killer cast the movie is fucking funny and incredibly moving! My boys [Brian O’Halloran] & [Jeff Anderson] (Vladimir and Tarragon from [Quick Stop Groceries]) didn’t just give the best career performances for one of my movies – they gave two of the best performances I’ve ever seen in a movie in my life! [Rosario Dawson] brings Becky back brilliantly, and [Jason Mewes], [Trevor Fehrman] and [Austin Zajur] steal so many scenes, I should make them stop! I hope to show our [Lionsgate] partners the movie this Friday, then all of the friends and family show screenings can begin, so I can keep finding trim. And after seeing the somewhat finished rough cut, I’m delighted to report that the movie is everything I’ve ever dreamed of it being, since the end of Clerks II! Damn, this is even better than I had hoped for. It’s not just a hymn to art brut in general and to the transformative power of cinema in particular, the film allowed me to recreate scenes from my first film, in the same place where we shot the scenes there. is 28 years old! I can’t wait to bring you kids back to Jersey with what I think is my best movie yet! But after a week alone at a desk in a dark editing room that doubles as a hot box, now is the time to get out there and run a few miles! A big thank you to [Avid Technology] and their [Avid Media Composer] for making a system so smart, an idiot like me has been using it since editing [Chasing Amy!] Avid remains the gold standard in film editing, and they’ve helped me become the artist that I am (good or bad) since 1996!
